The Heart of Our Work

Who We Are

The Miyengi Education Foundation exists to ensure that no child's future is limited by financial hardship. We provide school fee support and compassionate partnership to help children stay in school, thrive, and build the futures they deserve.

From Local Roots to National Impact

"While our first cohort of students were from John Miyengi's village, it is the foundation's core mission to extend this opportunity to all parts of Kenya."

Miyengi Education Foundation is a registered non-profit organisation and an affiliated Micro Trust of GivingWorks, which serves as our authorised donations management partner on behalf of the Foundation.
Our Inspiration

The Legacy of
John Miyengi Ogweno

The Foundation was established by Eudiah Miyengi, inspired by the enduring legacy of her late father, John Miyengi Ogweno. An educationalist in Kenya, John put a profound emphasis on the power of learning.

While studying at the University of Wisconsin in the 1960s, John penned a heartfelt farewell letter in 1967 before returning to Kenya. He reflected on his journey—from refusing to become a fisherman to walking miles for an education—and expressed wide-eyed affection for the people he had met.

Decades later, discovering this publication served as the catalyst for Eudiah to establish this foundation. Today, we honour his life by ensuring his legacy of empowering youth through education lives on.

Our Mission

Removing barriers to potential.

We work to remove financial barriers that prevent children from accessing or continuing their education. By supporting school fees and essential learning needs, we help families navigate difficult moments with dignity and hope.

To give every child the opportunity to learn, grow, and imagine a future filled with possibility.

Dignity

Every child and every family is treated with respect. We recognise the courage it takes to seek support, and we honour that trust with care and confidentiality.

Fairness

We ensure that support is offered transparently and equitably, guided by clear criteria and a commitment to doing what is right.

Every contribution is used responsibly. We steward resources with accountability, ensuring they create meaningful, lasting impact.

Compassion

Our work is grounded in empathy. We listen, we understand, and we stand alongside families as partners in their childrens education.
